Unlocking the potential of the landlocked

With 91 reservoirs and more than 28000 tanks and ponds across the state, Telangana has within itself India’s third largest water spread of 5.73 lakh sq. km. Despite being a landlocked stated, the state ranks fifth in fish production.

Over the last eight years, Telangana has steadily increased its fish production, thanks to committed focus of building large aqua hubs along reservoirs. Freshwater fish production today is at an industrial-scale, which will give an impetus to exports.

Telangana’s rapid progress in fish farming and export trade has the veritable hallmarks of a blue revolution.
