Growth of livestock and meat production has been phenomenal in Telangana. For example, the sheep population alone increased from 1.28 crore to 1.91 crore, as per the 20 th Livestock census.
In fact, Telangana ranks number one in sheep population and fifth in meat production in India. The state’s meat production has increased from 5.05 lakh tonnes in 2014-15 to 9.75 lakh tonnes in 2021-22.
The state is also the third largest producer of eggs in the country. Several initiatives of the state government and the animal husbandry department has paved the way towards prosperity for all.
